Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information is collected when you use the Dead Air streaming app on Roku and other platforms (the "Service") and this website, and how it is used. The Service is operated by Harbinger Security Consulting, LLC ("Dead Air," "we," "us").
The short version
- Dead Air does not require an account, and we do not ask you for your name, email address, or payment details to watch.
- We do not sell personal information.
- The Service is free and supported by advertising. Advertising on Roku is delivered by Roku's advertising systems, which use device identifiers and viewing activity as described below and in Roku's own privacy policy.
- You can limit ad tracking in your Roku device settings.
Information collected automatically
When you use the Service, the platform and our video and advertising providers may automatically collect:
- Device and connection data: device type and model, operating system, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, and platform-assigned advertising identifiers (for example, Roku's advertising ID).
- Usage data: which titles you watch, how long you watch, playback events, and errors.
We use this information to deliver video, measure how the Service is used, improve programming, and support advertising. We do not combine it with any information that identifies you by name, because we do not collect any.
Advertising
Advertising in the Service is served through the Roku Advertising Framework and, where applicable, other platform advertising systems. These systems may use device identifiers and viewing activity to select, deliver, cap, and measure advertisements. Roku's use of this information is governed by Roku's privacy policy. Dead Air does not receive personal information from the ad systems beyond aggregated reporting.
To limit ad tracking on a Roku device, open Settings, choose Privacy, then Advertising, and enable "Limit ad tracking." Other platforms offer similar controls in their settings.
Analytics and service providers
We use third-party providers for video hosting and delivery, app infrastructure, and analytics. These providers process device and usage data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. Current providers include Instant TV Channel (app platform) and our video hosting and content-delivery provider.
This website
This website does not use accounts or tracking cookies. If we add analytics, we will update this policy. Our hosting provider may log IP addresses and request data for security and operations.
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as needed to respond and for our records. If you submit a film to the Dead Air Horror Festival, the information in your submission is used to review, license, and credit your work as described in the festival rules.
Children
The Service carries content intended for mature audiences and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Your choices and rights
- Limit ad tracking through your device settings, as described above.
- Remove the channel at any time from your device, which stops any further data collection by the Service.
- Residents of California and other states with privacy laws may have rights to know, delete, or opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise any applicable right, contact us at the address below; because we do not hold identifying information, we may need to direct you to your platform's controls.
Data retention and security
Aggregated usage reporting is retained for business records. We rely on our platform and service providers' security measures to protect data in transit and at rest.
Changes
We will post any changes to this policy on this page with a new effective date.
